Listening To Music Helps Remove Stress From Your Life

Listening to music is very effective at alleviating stress. There is no special rule about what music to choose. Everyone has a different taste, so we should choose the type of music we enjoy. If a certain genre of music makes us relaxed and comfortable, then this should be our choice. Music is also a significant mood-changer. So if you've started the day in a negative manner, music gives you a chance to turn the tide.

The entire energetic system of humans is influenced by sounds. Eastern teachings say that the physical body, and the energy centers, known as chakras, respond to specific tones and frequencies. The positive effects are even better if people are playing or creating music themselves.

The stress reduction is a result of a few changes in our body physiology. First, it calms our mind and reduces mental chatter. The brain also starts to produce more serotonin - the hormone of happiness. Playing music in the background is obviously something that we'll benefit from. Just think of the last time you were in a retail store. To keep your mind off the high prices, you start hearing soft music. The same technique can keep your mind off your problems and take the stress away.

Music was also found to reduce heart rates. It also makes your body temperature higher. These two are both indications that you are relaxed. And if you combine music with a massage or some other kind of relaxation therapy, you will see even bigger results.

Experts suggest that it is the rhythm of the beat that carries the calming effect. Even though we are not conscious of what happens in our brain, the only thing we need to know is that music makes us relaxed. But if we know why this happens, maybe we will be able to become relaxed on demand every time.

When you were a baby in your mother's womb, the only sound you were hearing is your mother's heartbeat. And since most of the time you were asleep, you learned to associate these beats with relaxation on some other than conscious level. In the later stages of our lives, we like soothing music best. We associate it with relaxing and protective enviroment that our mother has provided for us.

The ancients were aware of all these facts. Surprisingly, many selections of Celtic and Native American music are extremely soothing even though they contain loud drums or flute. The most surprising finding of them all was that for relaxation, the genre of the music is of little importance. What makes a huge difference is whether you are listening to live music or not. Live music makes us relaxed no matter the genre.

As it was mentioned above, there isn't a music genre that everyone finds relaxing. It is only important that you like the music you are listening to. The only music you should avoid are songs that bring you bad memories. Aside from that, every song you can think of can take the stress away as long as you enjoy listening to it.
